Project co-sponsored by DR Healthcare, included in the Ris3Cat Food Community (Ris3Cat is an organization of the Catalan Government designed to promote R&D projects) within the PERFILS project.
Project co-funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund
PERFILS is a business initiative consortium to respond to the increasing demand for food, supplements and ingredients with a nutritional profile adapted to the needs of people whose by different conditions (diseases, allergies, intolerances…) require a targeted nutrition. The reality that find these people is an offer limited, of products that offer a fitness and optimal security.
The objective of this community will be to promote technological development, innovation and quality research.
The specific objective of DR Healthcare is the use of probiotics with activity Diamine Oxidase (DAO) that help to degrade the histamine at the intestinal level. It can represent an alternative or complementary dietary management for histamine intolerance caused by DAO deficiency.
With this perspective, and as a first step of the work package PT1-A1, it is planned the identification of probiotic`s bacteria with capacity of degradation of histamine in food.
Then it is planned the obtaining of microorganisms with DAO activity and evidence of its activity in vitro.
