DAOfood Plus

DAOfood® Plus is a food for special medical purposes that is used for the dietary management of DAO Deficiency and/or Histamine Intolerance and its associated pathologies.

Dietary management of DAO deficiency / Histamine intolerance.

Highly active and bioavailable Diamine Oxidase (DAO) enzyme. Ideal for prolonged dietary management of DAO deficiency.

It includes Quercetin and Vitamin C as adjuvant ingredients that work in synergy with the DAO enzyme.

With the innovative Eficaps® technology based on capsules with gastroresistant tablets that allow the release of the ingredients at the required time and site of action.

DAO intake through DAOfood Plus helps to increase the breakdown of exogenous or dietary histamine in the gut.

Product description

DAOfood®Plus is a dietary supplement for the dietary management of DAO Deficiency.
DAOfood® Plus supports digestive health by breaking down histamine and supporting normal DAO levels.

The amount of DAO contained in DAOfood Plus complements the body’s own enzyme, enhancing the breakdown of dietary histamine. Thus, DAOfood Plus supports histamine metabolism locally in the small intestine and, in combination with quercetin and vitamin C as adjuvants, restores the natural balance of histamine and DAO.

Histamine is an essential molecule, a transmitter that belongs to the so-called group of biogenic amines and that is naturally present in many foods as well as inside our cells. Normally, the intake of histamine contained in food does not cause any problem, since it is quickly processed and metabolized by the Diamine Oxidase enzyme (DAO).

+ information

DAO is the main enzyme for the metabolism of ingested histamine. lt is mainly located in the intestinal epithelium, where it absorbs and degrades the ingested histamine preventing it from passing into the bloodstream.

+ information

When there is an imbalance between the ingested histamine and the enzyme capacity or activity to metabolize it, histamine passes into the bloodstream which can trigger different reactions. Some causes of lower DAO Deficiency include genetic or acquired origins.

Histamine is present in all foods a greater or lesser extent, whether plant or animal origin. Food undergoing a lengthy maturation or food stored for an extended period is particularly high in histamine and other biogenic amines also degraded by DAO enzyme.

What does DAOfood®Plus contain?

Eficaps® capsules of DAOfood®Plus contain gastro-resistant tablets with controlled release DAO in the intestine that prevent stomach acid pH and tablets that guarantee the immediate release of adjuvant active ingredients.
Each capsule contains four tablets:

1 brown tablet for immediate release with vitamin C.

1 green tablet for immediate release with quercetin*.

2 DAO white/beige gastro-resistant tablets with release into the intestine.

(*) If you cannot take quercetin, you can open the capsule and remove the yellow tablet.

How should DAOfood®Plus be used?

Take 1 capsule with some water 20 minutes before the main meals (3 times a day). The capsule should be swallowed whole, if you are unable to swallow it whole, please open it and ingest the tablets from its interior separately, swallowing them whole without chewing, splitting or breaking them.

lmportant observations

DAOfood®Plus does not a single food source. Alcohol and medicines may largely inhibit the action of the Diamine Oxidase enzyme (DAO). To be used only under the supervision of a qualified practitioner, who shall recommend the dosage according to the symptoms. Keep out of the reach of children. Store in a cool place. The capsules must be swallowed whole. It does not contain Histamine. Gluten free. Lactose free.

Storage

DAOfood®Plus contains Diamine Oxidase (DAO), a thermolabile enzyme (sensitive to temperature) that should be stored away from heat sources. No special preservation precautions are required if daily intake guidelines are followed. In the case of occasional use, the product should be kept refrigerated.

Ingredients

Bulking agents: microcrystalline cellulose and hydroxypropylcellulose; quercetin 95%; potato starch; L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C); coating agent: ethylcellulose; pig kidney protein extract with 7% diamine oxidase (DAO); bulking agent: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose; stabilizers: magnesium salts of fatty acids, sodium alginate; rice starch, medium chain triglycerides; stabilizer: stearic acid, oleic acid, dicalcium phosphate; coloring agent: caramel E150d. Vegetable capsule: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose.

Histamine

Histamine is a molecule that is present in all foods in the daily diet, is also produced endogenously in the body, and is the mediator of many biological processes such as hypersensitivity of the body’s defense reactions, gastric acid secretions, neuromodulation and regulation of immune function. Ingested histamine is broken down by the enzyme Diamine Oxidase (DAO) in the small intestine.

The Issue

If the metabolic activity of the DAO enzyme is reduced, the ingested histamine cannot be degraded and passes through the intestinal mucosa to the bloodstream.

The solution

DAOfood® Plus provides the exogenous DAO intake necessary to restore histamine metabolism. Proper DAO supplementation allows dietary management of DAO levels.

FAQs

According to the International Society of DAO Deficiency, some of the associated conditions can be migraine, dry skin, atopy, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, ADHD, constipation, diarrhea and bloating.

Not all symptoms described above are necessarily present, but it is known that most individuals with reduced DAO activity manifest, on average, three or four of these symptoms, with migraine being particularly prevalent among them. However, equally, not all symptoms and conditions described above are necessarily linked to DAO Deficiency.

The enzyme Diamine Oxidase (DAO) from DAOfood® Plus maintains its metabolic activity of food histamine for 4-5 hours after taking the supplement.

The normal recommended dose is one capsule (or tablet) before each meal. Up to 3 capsules or tablets can be taken before meals rich in histamine.

The results of dietary management should begin to be seen within 15 days of supplementation and within the first 30 days.

DAOfood® Plus can be taken indefinitely. It does not contain allergens, gluten, lactose or histamine, and it is recommended for the dietary management of DAO Deficiency.

Each capsule contains 0.3 mg of diamine oxidase enzyme (DAO) in two white/beige tablets (each gastro-resistant tablet contains 0.15 mg of DAO enzyme). The maximum daily dose is 12.6 mg of pork kidney protein extract rich in DAO enzyme, equivalent to the intake of 3 capsules a day (each capsule contains 4.2 mg of pork kidney protein extract rich in DAO enzyme).

Each capsule contains 40 mg of quercetin inside in a yellow tablet.

Each capsule contains 20 mg of vitamin C in an orange tablet.

Each capsule can be opened, and tablets not required can be removed as appropriate. The withdrawal of quercetin tablets, yellow in color, and / or vitamin C, orange in color, do not compromise the effectiveness of the product.
